Bacca Pearls

For the past 3 years, Julya and I have been hosting our own version of “Tupperware Parties” - although I always grimace a bit when I say that (picture your mother and her friends in a circle gazing at… tupperware. Not exactly fantastic). We also hate the comparison to the pyramid scheme that is Tupperware Parties; scary, and SO NOT US. And so, we have gone around in circles coming up with a better term for these parties… often landing on Pearl Parties. These parties are after all, a great way to combine a party with shopping and friends - all for a cause (we donate 10% of the sales to the charity of your choice). So, when I cam across this article on Design Sponge, another one of my favorite blogs, I was THRILLED to see the enthusiasm for what the author calls Modern Tupperware Parties.

Not only does Design Sponge love the idea, but she also suggests amazing ideas for helping create the party atmosphere. Starting with the invitation, she likes handmade stamped invites - maybe with the image of a vintage key, that says “You’re key to the goods”! How clever! And who could say “no” to that!

She continues on to talk about decor - and as she points out, that is what the goods are for - let them speak for themselves! We totally agree. As we talked about in our article about my favorite turquoise room, jewelry is its own artwork. Top that off with some gorgeous flowers and you are good to go.

And finally, food. We don’t always think food is necessary, but then again, who can say no to delicious little finger foods? Design Sponge suggests sliders or maybe an onion tart, cut into small pieces for ease. I could live off of bread and cheese - so I would go for an antipasto plate - yummy cheeses, cured meats and roasted veggies with a baguette.

Finally, refreshments always up the party atmosphere, be it wine or something more festive like a Grapefruit Gimlet or a Tipsy Arnold Palmer.

All in all, Design Sponge has refreshed my creative spirit for our Modern Tupperware Parties. I’m excited to get the season started!! Contact us if this sounds like fun to you too!
